The reason we decided to choose 'Independant' as our film brief

We have decided to follow the path of an independent Film brief; therefore we are creating a film that is set apart from the typical storylines. We decided to choose this brief because it means we can have a vast range of diverse ideas instead of narrowing it down to one genre. Not only this, but we find a mutual for the films that are outside the ‘Hollywood films.’ The films that follow this appropriate genre is called ‘Art house.’ Because we have a mutual appreciation for the Art House genre we have watched many films that fall under the category, therefore we feel our film could be heavily influenced by these films. Especially those such as ‘Factory Girl,’ ‘Into The Wild,’ ‘The Diving Bell and the Butterfly’ and ‘Fish Tank.’ All those films have elements of individuality and contain filming angles that are unusually beautiful. I find also I have a fascination with natural light, especially the type of light that occurs during sunset when the sun turns the landscape honey coloured. I also love it when a shaft of light is focusing on the actor and the sun is behind the actor like so, from ‘Fish Tank:’
