The Type of Institutions that would produce, exhibit and distribute our film.

Previously I did some research on our genre 'Independent films' and during the research I encountered the companies that were commissioned to support Independant films. These companies were those such as,Fox searchlight, 20^th century Fox, Focus features and Sony Pictures Classics and entertainment.

Fox Searchlight is a branch of 20th century Fox and it is the the branch that is dedicated to supporting Independent films. They have supported films such as 'Once,' 'Sideways,' 'Juno' and 'Little Miss Sunshine.' A recent film they have supported called 'Never let me go.' According to http://www.imdb.com the plot is like this: 'As children, Ruth, Kathy and Tommy, spend their childhood at a seemingly idyllic English boarding school. As they grow into young adults, they find that they have to come to terms with the strength of the love they feel for each other, while preparing themselves for the haunting reality that awaits them.' After watching the trailer I have observed that it seems to be a very arty film with many beautiful shots and angles. The film is a period drama that takes place in the mid 1990s and the costume is very english and old fashioned. Fox searchlight has also supported gangster films such as 'Street Kings.' A our film contains the same edgy style I feel this company would be a good company to support our film. Street Kings is about how a cop is accused of execution of a fellow officer and because his wife is dead finds it hard to remain on the straight and narrow. He is therefore forced to go up against the cop culture he has been part of most of his life. The film shows aspects of rebellion similar to our film.

Film 4 productions have supported films such as, 'Enduring love,' 'Four Lions,' 'Elizabeth,' and 'The Lovely Bones.' All these films are very different from each other. There is a mix of the genres of films that film 4 supports, therefore this would be a good institution to support our film. 

Lion's Gate Films have produced films such as, 'Saw,' 'American Psycho,' 'Dogma' and 'Affliction.' All of the films contain elements that re dark and gruesome. I think that this company would be quite a good supporter of our film because our film has got quite a dark feel about it, but the films that Lion's gate supports are films that have heavy subjects. 

Summit Entertainment is one of the more successful companies as it has produced films that have been highly acknowledged. Films such as 'New Moon' and 'American Pie' has made millions of pounds. I feel that this company would not support our film because it has supported films that have become very big in Hollywood.
