What attracts people to Films and what puts them off?

I did some market research about 'What attracts people to films and what puts them off' and this involved carrying out a survey with the people in my school. I asked the questions: 'What attracts you to films? What puts you off films? And What are the best opening titles you have ever seen.' Many people could not think of the best opening titles to a film they have watched, but they did however throw a few descriptive words at me that they felt best summed up a good opening to a film:

'Good trailer and original'

'Juno had a good opening and openings that are subtle.'

'Scary films and when the situation is shown at the beginning then the lead up to that situation.'

'Interesting, chick flicks, lots of things happening at once.'

'The plot is very important and snappy beginnings.'
'When you are having fun n watching it.'

'Good acting, cartoons and a good opening is in the film 'Click' and 'My Sisters Keeper.'

'Genre and funny opening.'

Here are things that people said that are bad about films and their openings:

'Too in your face, too obvious and not well done.'

'Too dark, depressing and I hate subtitles.'

'Scary films'

'Bad continuity.'

'When you know what is going to happen.'

'Bad acting.'

'Cheesiness.'

I also did some research on the internet to further my understanding of what is the difference between a good and a bad film and I found this:

The films that was voted by : http://thefilmstage.com/2010/09/03/the-25-most-memorable-opening-scenes-in-film/2/  to have the best opening titles was 'Jaws' and the second best was 'The Raiders of the Lost Ark.'
But I have personally thought the most clever three that I have ever seen is: 'Lord of War,' 'Catch Me if you Can' and 'Se7en.' This is because the special effects are phenomenal. The reason why the film 'Juno' has such a popular opening is because it has incredible special effects and it is highly controversial and original.

'http://www.articlesbase.com/movies-articles/what-makes-a-good-movie-302685.html' stated that:

"A good movie must also provide some elements of encouragement and inspire people towards successfully overcoming barriers."

they also stated that:

"visual display of a movie with beautiful scenes and sceneries can also influence and draw people to the theaters."
